Crossed the River Plate today to Montevideo. Our brother Charles Scott Smith was on HMS Cumberland at the Battle of the River Plate in 1939. He was killed in action off Dakar in 1940. The result of the battle was the scuttling of the German Pocket Battleship, Graf Spee. The anchor for that ship is now in Montevideo harbour. I laid a wreath in memory of Bro Smith AND all men who have no grave but the sea.

In July Tim, Mark, Martin, Mark and Gerry took off on an intrepid adventure to ride four renovated 1960’s Italian scooters from London to Italy to raise money for MERU.
The amazing news is that the figures are in and they’ve now raised over £4000!
Well done, and thank you to everyone that sponsored them!
A total of £2000 raised for both Care of Police Survivors and The Children’s Trust.
My thanks to you all for your support.
